In a study, it was found that in three adult participants over the age of 60, one suffered from slipped disks without back pain. Researchers suggest that this must be one of the reasons why sufferers of lower back pain still get the same MRI and surgery results as those who weren’t scanned.
There are other measures sufferers can resort to before having a surgery. According to the Arthritis Foundation, they may engage in exercise routines such as aerobic exercises, resistance training, and stretching. In a review study, it was found that stretching and strengthening exercises have helped improve low back pain by 19 points.
While engaging in physical activities is helpful, experts also suggest that sufferers should avoid jerking motions or abrupt twisting, which could potentially worsen back pain. They should also avoid doing resistance training. They may, however, spend 2 and a half housr walking or doing aerobic exercise or strength training every week.
