Both in the modern-day market and even more so in the vintage one, good Seiko Chronograph pieces still appear to be iconic, nice, heavy, chunky-lookers of a watch. It feels great to wear them; also feels good to see. Seiko doesnít disappoint at that point.
This is the Orange Chunky Hunk, the next thing you might like after the Orange Monster. An Seiko Watch means the same thing. Or to sound technical, it could be Monster Lite.
There are differences; not that itís just a scaled down replica of the legendary Monster. The hour markers; the case-size, the position of the crown - Seiko never meant the Monster Lite to lock horns with their original counterparts. Instead, they gave things an upgrade. Itís a much dressier look than the ISO-rated Monsterís. Anyone who likes the diverís design but find things way too big for daily use, the Seiko Premier Lites are likely to appeal.
The Mini Monster makes for a mid-sized stature with its orange analog dial protected by a HardlexTM crystal. Its 4R36 caliber, self-winding mechanical movement can be manually wound and hacked. The day window shows the day of the week in two language choice; thereís English and another from Spanish, Arabic, Kanji, Chinese, French or Roman. There are 6 ticks to every second and that brings a smoother sweep! Twist the crown to fully wound and set it up to run for the next 41 hours. When you wear Seiko Kinetic Watch, it will self-wind as you move, filling up the lost turns of the mainspring.
Its 42mm width (excluding the crown) and 12mm depth are easier to carry around in a busy urban life and its water resistance of 100 meters takes care of anything you do with water. The crown is well-guarded against accidental pulls. The smooth and sturdy rotating stainless steel bezel keeps elapsed time turning counter-clockwise with 120 clicks. Itís not as scalloped as the real Monster's bezel but it is significantly easier to grip. The lugs with a 22mm gap fit in plenty of bands for customisation.
Overall, a solid, well-finished, brushed and polished, large watch that wears better in the city than the actual Monster. A Seiko Sports Watch, may be?
