Public lecture “The History of Yoga: from the Early Upanishads until the Present Day”

(Presseportal openBroadcast) - We invite everyone interested in yoga, its history and its present. The lecture focuses on key moments in the history of yoga as an integrated esoteric system. You shall learn whether the objectives of yoga have been changing throughout the process of its development and transformation and understand the reason of its worldwide cultural significance.

The lecture is given by Andrey Safronov, the President of the Ukrainian Federation of Yoga, a practicing esotericist and religious studies scholar, author of ca. 100 scientific papers and publications, two monographs and a fundamental work “Yoga: Physiology, Psychosomatics, Bioenergetics”.

In the course of the lecture the audience shall get an overview of the most distinguished authentic sources of yoga, the specifics of their understanding and interpretation. The review of the most significant contributors into development of yoga concepts and practices shall be also given. Special attention shall be paid to the history of yoga teaching penetration into the Western world and the USSR.

The lecture shall take place on March 9, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. (GMT+2)
