(Presseportal openBroadcast) - A new park in Fort Worth, Texas may be dwarfed by some of the city's larger and more grandiose green spaces, but it provides a place for a local community to take a break. The Magnolia Avenue micro park, which takes just 30 feet by 100 feet of space, has been installed in South Fort Worth to bring people and families together.
The City of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Department presented the Park, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan in 2015 with the mission statement "To enrich the lives of our citizens through the stewardship of our resources and the responsive provision of quality recreational opportunities and community service. " But while the department is still behind the schedule, local companies came up with the idea to adopt the temporarily undeveloped land and to use local resources to transform a vacant lot into a picturesque recreational space.
"As we were laying the brick over the weekend, the public was walking by, and they would stop, lay a few bricks, put a little bit of sand down, wipe over the top, and then get back going to brunch. The entire project was taken the hundredth of hands together, " - said Megan Henderson, Near Southside Inc.
The Magnolia Park project, funded by private companies involved the installation of artificial grass donated by Global Syn-Turf, the leader manufacturer of synthetic grass in the United States. Synthetic surfaces by GST provide many benefits including minimal maintenance, water efficiency, safety for children and pets, and a source of pride for the community.
In addition to providing a mini oasis for the community, the Magnolia Mini Park has taken a certifiable approach to securing the city water supplies. When Fort Worth initiates Stage 1 of the Drought Contingency Plan, landscape watering that includes parks and sports fields is limited to a twice per week schedule. Global Syn-Turf envisions to restore, protect, promote and improve the thoughtful use of natural resources.
"We are thrilled to be a part of Fort Worth city community efforts to enrich lives of residents and proud to partner with SPSD (Site Planning Site Development) of Arlington, Texas," - said Rachel Brady, Sales and Marketing Manager, Global Syn-Turf, Inc, - "Environmental and recreational issues, broadly outlined, have a complex and profound effect on the health and well-being of individuals, communities and families in the United States. Access to green space and recreational opportunities affects the community sector, and there is a growing interest in the artificial grass that helps to preserve one of the planet's most valuable resources - freshwater."
The leaps in technology affect how people enjoy their parks and participate in recreation events and programs. Parks and recreation play an increasingly important role in shaping successful cities. Pocket parks are not intended to serve an entire city as city parks, but they make communities more sociable and safer, improve fitness and health, and empower residents to make decisions that affect their lifestyle. The benefits of micro-parks, such as the Magnolia Park goes beyond the community and positively impacts the well-being of the city of Fort Worth and surrounding areas. The water-efficient artificial grass by Global Syn-Turf ensures low maintenance, consistent safety standards, and super-realistic, beautiful green look in any weather, or under any playground equipment.
Global Syn-Turf, Inc. provides environmentally-friendly commercial and residential lawns, recreational fields, playgrounds, sports fields, pets turf, putting greens for communities throughout the United States. The state-of-the-art synthetic grass offers a realism, drainage, performance, safety and durability. Demonstrating superior quality, Global Syn-Turf’s artificial grass products have passed vigorous tests and far exceeded government standards. Global Syn-Turf is proud to have been involved in the water conservation programs across the country.
