(Presseportal openBroadcast) - Company will soon launch first product, illumin8™, a revolutionary video compression technology for consumers and business
The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) named MindAptiv one of this year's six "Denver Gazelles," recognition of MindAptiv as a fast-growing tech company with the potential to bring big business to Denver.
MindAptiv is preparing to launch its first consumer product, illumin8, by the end of the year. Much like Pied Piper, the fictional software company fans of the HBO Series Silicon Valley will recognize, illumin8 makes content files dramatically smaller, but in a different and very real way. illumin8 brings low-resolution video to highest-quality, high-resolution levels while using a fraction of the storage and bandwidth. The technology will enable businesses such as Netflix to simplify both the transformation of HD video to 4K as well as its distribution across bandwidth-constrained networks. For consumers, illumin8 will allow anyone to stream their favorite TV shows and movies at the highest quality while minimizing the dreaded "buffering."
Since 2012, the Denver OED has named deserving companies to the annual Gazelle list. Gazelles exhibit exponential job growth, high potential for further growth and a commitment to the local entrepreneurial scene, according to the OED. Over the next 10 years, the city expects companies like the Gazelles to be responsible up to 50 percent of the city's job growth. Past Gazelles include Galvanize, Full Contact and Inspirato.
"Everyone's hard work at MindAptiv has brought us to this moment — being named a Gazelle by Denver's Office of Economic Development is an amazing honor," said Ken Granville, co-founder and CEO of MindAptiv. "In five years we've taken the company from bootstrapping to $5.8 million in angel funding and deals with Fortune 150 companies."
During 2016, MindAptiv doubled its staff and advanced from a startup incubator to its own office in the Denver Tech Center (DTC). In addition to illumin8, the company is also working on several other products, which will be introduced in the coming months.
"illumin8 is just a preview of the technology that MindAptiv is developing," said Michael Cushman, a MindAptiv advisor and the senior fellow at the DaVinci Institute. "Everything they do is based on rethinking software on the most fundamental level, and that's going to lead to a whole lot of surprises for the computing world."
Unhappy with the status quo in technology, Ken Granville and Jake Kolb founded MindAptiv in 2011. The company, based in the Denver Tech Center, is redefining innovation with software that adapts to the user and empowering the world to Create at the Speed of Thought™. Its first consumer product, illumin8, will make photo and video files dramatically smaller and enable faster, more efficient distribution of digital content. The company's investors include former Denver Bronco Rod Smith. Learn more at http://www.mindaptiv.com
